Housing Filter
So,
the_infamous_j are just starting out on the slow slow road of housebuying, and I'm going to make a filter to talk about it.
It's probably most of interest to locals, since a lot of things I'll be talking about probably won't make sense unless you live here.
Anyways, let me know if you want in. I'll seed it with the contents of my finances filter, and then you can opt-in or -out as you please!
(If you can see the next entry, tagged [Housing] you're on it; if you can't, you aren't yet... let me know if you want on)

I bought my house about 4 years ago, I can probably chime in with the occasional bits of wisdom.. Like never buy from someone who are desperate to sell cause the bank is ready to foreclose on them.. If they don't have money now, they might not have had money before, and that means any repairs were done as cheap as possible... like the shower upstairs being done with cheap tile over REGULAR DRYWALL... that's been fun to fix. and i still have to do the downstairs.
It's fun to check the price of the cheapest houses in my city, we're down to $34,900 for a house in windsor not far from my area. One down my street about 5 blocks was in the 35's, and one block south of me is 200k's.. and mine's in the 100's. Housing is weird. :)

The cheapest house in K/W I've seen so far is $99k, and it's small and "has uneven floors" :>

I would even consider getting a house inspection on a brand new house.. they really build crap nowadays.
