So, today, I cancelled my Fido cell phone plan. It's been good times and many years (I think I got my first cell phone with them in 2001 or 2002... it was this one).

I had the G310 for years, and then I had a Sony Ericsson T310 (310 was a good number) thingie with a nasty colour screen seen here... then I had a Hiptop 2, then another Hiptop 2. Then when I started working here and got a BlackBerry on the company, I gave the HT to [livejournal.com profile] the_infamous_j, which still had the best dataplan: $20 unlimited, though you'd be pressed to be able to use more than about 25 MB a month with it.

Eventually, [livejournal.com profile] the_infamous_j got a BlackBerry as well, we switched to the absolutely horrendously overpriced BlackBerry data plans; $60 for 25 MB of Data (and occasionally overage charges, so Jer hardly ever used it).

Due to the iPhone's impending release, Roger's has severely dropped their consumer BlackBerry data plan rates, and Fido didn't follow suit (in fact, when we asked today, they don't even offer new BB plans)... So we went over to Roger's (as much as I hate the company) and signed up for their new BlackBerry plan: 300 megs for $30. Now that's what I'm talkin' about: that's more inline with what data should cost. :)

So, goodbye Fido. You were such an awesome little carrier that could, back in the beginning. Before Roger's bought you out and stomped all over you and made you suck.
