My world has just been utterly shaken up. I've just learned a fact that completely shattered my perception of reality. I'm not sure how I totally missed out on this before, how I could be so out of touch. How could this happen? It's just not how it's supposed to be. It's like I've walked into a parallel universe.

yes. while i haven't seen the show in a good fifteen years, i remember a news blurb about that being a condition of Barker's endorsing anyone to take the job.

I'll admit I think that's cool of both of them - Barker to expect it and Carey to agree. It is vitally important and very simple and it does so much to prevent the suffering of animals.

I admit to being rather out of touch with contemporary TV programming. But I always assumed it would be Bob Barker until the end of time. (a la Futurama head in a jar if necessary)

Where have you been? This is age old news. It's actually not bad. It's just... different. A few weeks ago I went on youtube and watched an episode of that show where this guy proposes to his girlfriend on stage and then goes on to win the episode! It's soooo cute.
