This Saturday, Henry's, a Canadian camera chain, was having a 99th anniversary celebration, where at each store they were giving away 99 gift certificates (ranging in value from $10-$500) to the first 99 people in line.
iggabod tipped me off to the promotion, and after running some errands on Sunday morning, we (
the_infamous_j, my father, and I) went to wait in line (outside, in the hot sun; it was a little unpleasant)..
45 minutes later, they let us in, and let us choose envelopes. I won a $50 gift certificate, Jer got $100, and Dad won $10. A total haul of $160 wasn't bad! So, I bought a new 2 GB SD card for my new camera (thanks
rhiannonstone!), a USB card reader, and a mini-tripod (looks like this, though I have no idea how long that link will be good for...). Jer picked up a full-size tripod for us, and some NiMHs. Dad let me use his G/C for my stuff.
So, that was pretty awesome, and I had wanted to get the memory card and the mini-tripod anyways.
