Super Mario Galaxy
So,
the_infamous_j and I finished Super Mario Galaxy yesterday. So far the most engaging and fun game for the Wii. I give it a 9.5/10. The only issue I ever really had with it is that controls when you're on the sides of things didn't always feel natural.
On the other hand, it's just really fun. The way gravity is completely arbitrary in the game is a really neat gameplay mechanic, and it makes for a very fun platform game. Since the planetoid idea freed up the design quite a bit, nothing felt as awkward or contrived as in Super Mario Sunshine (which was fun, but pales compared to Super Mario Galaxy). The only other possible complaint is that maybe it's a bit easy. A few nights after playing for a few hours I had well over 50 lives, and maxed out the life counter to 99 one night. But still totally awesome. And there's still more to do.
We beat the game with 100 stars. I was very thorough getting the hidden and comet stars as I went, missing only five accessible stars by the time I went to beat Bowser. After a little bit tonight, I'm up to 105. I've got 11 Purple Comets left to go (these are HARD), one regular hidden star (I know where it is, but haven't quite managed to beat it), and three regular comet levels (because they're really hard!)
Must... complete... game...
